Councillor Suresh Krishna is a statesman and a community man. He was born and raised in the village of Nelliady, Sri Lanka.
Since 2010, Krishna Suresh has been an established statesman. As a member of the British Labour Party, he works as an elected Councillor for the London Borough of Harrow (for which he represents the Rayners Lane Ward as Councillor and works closely with the Safer Neighbourhood Team.) As a Harrow Councillor, he is also a member of the Licensing Committee. Since his Local Education Authority appointment in 2005 Krishna Suresh has been a governor of Vaughan School, as well as a member of Harrow Asian Multicultural Association and of the Harrow branch of the Fabian Society. He is also an Ambassador for the Harrow United Deaf Club and Harrow Association of Disable People.
In 2014 Krishna Suresh was re-elected in Rayners Lane with an increased vote. At the Annual Council on 19 May 2015, Cllr Krishna Suresh was elected as The Mayor of The London Borough of Harrow, having served as Deputy Mayor since June 2014.
Since 2006, Cllr Suresh has been a dedicated community leader, and is one of the main Tamil Community leaders in London – speaking on many stages, at which he spoke up for Tamils’ freedom and rights in their homeland, thus bringing awareness of the Tamil culture and struggle to the public domain. He has also worked with and for other communities who share his neighbourhood in London – English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bangladeshi, Sikh, Pakistani, Zoroastrian, Afro Caribbean, Somali, Chinese, Telugu and Nepali etc.
Krishna Suresh introduced the Tamil Thai Pongal as a Tamil Cultural Event in Harrow Council’s Calendar – since 2011 Harrow residents have enjoyed the Harvest Festival as an annual event which shares the Tamil culture and traditional values among other communities.
As an enthusiastic supporter of charitable initiatives, Krishna Suresh has personally taken part in charity fundraising events. Krishna, also known as London Baba, is a very prominent figure internationally among Tamils, and as a leading Tamil actor in the UK.
