First Kumbh Mela Outside India

The first ever Kumbha Mela outside of India was celebrated with great pomp and splendor on September 10, 2006 at Bren Event Center, University of California, Irvine to usher in peace by infusing collective positive energy. An auspicious moment in time and an opening for powerful healing energy to be firmly rooted in North America.

More than 18 Southern California organizations took part in the festival, which featured a quarter-mile procession with an estimated 4,000 chanting marchers who carried pictures and images of deities and spiritual leaders from various temples.
