In the world of classical music, Sitar Maestro Chandranath Bhattacharya is a well known name. His early sitar studies were with Shri Gopi Mohan Bose, followed by sitarist Shri Shyamal Chatterjee and lastly with the renowned Padmabhusan Pandit Debu Chowdhury of the Senia Jaipur Gharana. In order to maintain the principles of ragas, the Senias of this Gharana play traditional sitar with seventeen frets and distinct stroke patterns.
Maestro Chandranath has performed throughout Asia and Europe, as well as appeared on India radio and television. He has taught sitar and vocal at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society and currently runs his own school of Indian Music and Arts in Singapore.
Maestro Chandranath has had many notable performances and has received many awards and titles throughout his career.
