Bhikkhuni Dhammasuriya was born in Taiwan and lived in the USA for many years where she began her Buddhist studies in Los Angeles. She is inspired by the venerable Yin-shun of Mahayana tradition. After she became a Buddhist, she started spending a lot of time studying Buddhism and learned to meditate from the venerable Pa-Auk Sayadawghi of Theravada tradition from Myanmar in 2013. She also learned to meditate from the venerable Sayalay Dipankara.
